I am an entrepreneur that loves learning and solving problems for myself and others using tech. Particularly in the ecommerce space and more and more with the use of AI technology.
What I'm Working On: Right now, I'm building companies that power subscription commerce for physical goods: Autoship, Nextime, and a powerful platform called QPilot that has evolved over the years from a chatbot, into a subscription management platform, and now a reliable API that connects to your favorite AI tools and chatbots. Beyond technology and software, I co-founded an agency and podcast in 2025 called Subscription Prescription that helps brands learn how to grow their subscription business by being great at growth experiments that get more people to subscribe and learn how to continuously evaluate & improve their results with retention.
I also work with other people and companies on AI transformation outside of the domain of commerce and subscriptions. You can find my links and posts about that work here.
My Professional Background: For most of my career, I've been designing solutions and consulting for ecommerce companies like NetSuite, Shopify, and Woo, and have worked with subscription brands like GNC, Phlur, and HighTide. That's why my writing includes so much about ecommerce and subscriptions, and I still love working in these industries today.
Why I (Still) Like Working On Subscriptions and Autoship: I believe that commerce is a form of connection, and that online commerce has, for the most part, made us more connected. Subscriptions — especially as they've evolved as an Autoship model for delivered goods — are the best agreement I've seen in commerce. Simply put, subscriptions are the best offer to the best customer, and when they don't agree: no one's locked in. I believe that's what a healthy agreement looks like.
What I Want To Share With You Here: In this site I'm sharing my thoughts about my domain of work and my ideas about People, Commerce, Automation, and AI. Like many that have worked on the internet for years, I am seeing technology help us in ways that make our lives easier and make the future seem brighter, and I am also observing technology harm us in ways that are hard to accept or understand. I don't claim to hold that understanding or have the answers, but I do believe I've seen ways that technology has helped me and helped people that I've met and worked with, and that I have learnings, stories and ideas to share about how commerce and tech, especially Artificial Intelligence, is helping us be better professionally and even healthier as people — and I want to offer that perspective here.
